Microsoft is preparing to raise the 1.5 TB ceiling on Exchange Online auto-expanding archive mailboxes, with rollout planned from October 2026. Xiaomi Smart Storage

Le Smart Storage est un boitier plutôt original en terme de design et doté de 2 emplacements pour des disques durs (fournis). Le chargement se ferait par l’arrière.

Il construit autour d’un SoC Quad Core Realtek RTD1619B (Cortex-A55) cadencé à 1,7 GHz et épaulé par 4 Go de RAM (non extensible). Pour rappel, il s’agit de la même puce qui équipait le Synology DS223j (sorti en 2023). Xiaomi n’a donc pas cherché à réinventer la mécanique interne, il a copié une recette qui fonctionne…

Interface de connexion

Côté connectique, le boîtier propose un port réseau 2,5 Gb/s, un port USB 3.0 et une sortie audio-vidéo HDMI compatible 4K@30.

HyperOS

Le tout tournera sous HyperOS (le système de Xiaomi déjà intégré dans ses téléphone) avec des fonctions orientées grand public : gestionnaire de photos boosté à l’IA, vidéothèque, sauvegarde complète de smartphone (photos, documents, conversations WeChat) et connexion possible de 4 caméras de surveillance Xiaomi avec un stockage local jusqu’à 360 jours.

Le prix avant tout

Le fabricant propose 3 configurations : 4 To à 2 299 yuans (environ 300€), 8 To à 2 899 yuans (environ 375€) et 16 To à 4 699 yuans (environ 610€).

Ces tarifs de lancement grimperont ensuite au tarif public, annoncé autour de 3 499 yuans pour l’entrée de gamme (environ 500€). Pour rappel, un Synology DS223j nu se vend environ 180€, mais ce dernier n’est pas sans atout (DSM, suite logicielle, etc.). Le NAS permet de faire tourner Container Station (docker) et la suite Office de Synology…

Le logiciel reste le principal obstacle

Sur le papier, la puce Realtek limite d’emblée les ambitions. Xiaomi vise le foyer qui veut centraliser photos et sauvegardes, pas l’utilisateur avancé qui bricole son homelab. Sur ce terrain, HyperOS pour NAS part de zéro, sans le moindre historique de fiabilité ni de suivi long terme, quand DSM de Synology aligne deux décennies de mises à jour et un écosystème d’applications difficile à égaler du jour au lendemain.

Ugreen avait déjà montré la voie avec ses DH2300 et DH4300 Plus, en attaquant Synology sur le rapport qualité-prix matériel plutôt que sur la richesse logicielle. Xiaomi pousse la logique encore plus loin en intégrant son écosystème connecté directement dans l’équation.

En synthèse

Pour l’instant, le Smart Storage reste cantonné à la Chine, sans date d’export annoncée. Des questions légitimes se posent déjà sur l’arrivée du fabricant dans ce domaine, la confidentialité des données, la continuité des mises à jour… Si vous cherchez un NAS abordable disponible en France aujourd’hui, les Ugreen ou les modèles Synology d’entrée de gamme restent les choix les plus raisonnables. Mais si Xiaomi finit par exporter ce tarif hors de Chine, les fabricants historiques auront un sérieux caillou dans la chaussure.
