In May 2024, Microsoft introduced the Windows Recall, which captures screenshots of user activity. Following significant criticism over privacy and security concerns, its rollout faced multiple delays. Microsoft has now reintroduced Recall in the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview, making it available to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel who use Copilot Plus PCs equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series processors. Its reinstatement raises fresh concerns about whether such intrusive technology should exist at all, given its potential for misuse and privacy concerns.

Windows 11 passkey support for third-party providers

Microsoft is enhancing Windows 11’s authentication capabilities by updating the Web Authentication API (WebAuthn) to support third-party passkey providers, which can work alongside Windows Hello to leverage biometric methods and public key cryptography, aligning with the FIDO2 standard for passwordless authentication.
