Microsoft published the WindowsBackupAdmin 1.0.0 module on 19 August 2026. The module wraps Microsoft Graph beta windowsSetting APIs so you can view, export, and delete Windows settings backup data without building Graph requests yourself. Microsoft Graph is the REST interface Microsoft 365 uses for tenant data. These scripts do not back up files, disks, or mailboxes. They only manage the cloud copy of Windows user settings and backup profiles.

Windows 11 26H2 is expected in late September or early October 2026, but Microsoft’s next feature update is designed to be almost invisible for PCs already running 24H2 or 25H2. The 174KB enablement package will activate code delivered through earlier cumulative updates, while Point-in-Time Restore becomes enabled by default on eligible systems.

Microsoft is hiding OneDrive Photos from the Start menu and Windows Search after the app was force-installed on managed PCs during an unintended rollout. The change does not remove the app: OneDrive.App.exe remains on affected Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems and can still be launched manually.

The important catch in Windows 11 26H2’s Point-in-Time Restore rollout is that automatic activation requires a Windows system volume of at least 200GB. Microsoft has now detailed the feature’s 72-hour retention limit and recovery scope after announcing Windows 11 26H2’s backup and restore defaults; eligible PCs will get it automatically, while smaller systems can still enable it manually.
