Microsoft plans to push Exchange auto-expanding archives past 1.5 TB
Microsoft is preparing to raise the 1.5 TB ceiling on Exchange Online auto-expanding archive mailboxes, with rollout planned from October 2026. The change is currently limited to customers with eligible Office 365 E5 or Microsoft 365 E5 licenses, and Microsoft has not yet disclosed the new maximum capacity or whether extra storage will incur additional charges.

LTO shipments reached 160.3 exabytes in 2025, and capacity shipments jumped 57 percent year over year in the first quarter of 2026, as organizations sought cheaper, lower-power archives with built-in offline protection.

WinBtrfs 1.10 gives Windows 11 users broader native access to Linux’s Btrfs filesystem, including the ability to write free-space bitmaps and compressed inline files without using Linux kernel code. The release also improves stability after more than two years without a major update, but removes RAID support for removable devices.
