Keep ADMX for Windows 10 or Windows 11 in the central store?

Par : Wolfgang Sommergut

The administrative templates for Windows 11 are not backward compatible; hence, Windows 10 cannot be fully managed with them. This situation is unlikely to change. In mixed environments, the question arises for admins as to which ADMX they should keep in the central store.

If an EC2 Reserved Instance is not applied or used

Par : Michael Pietroforte

If an EC2 Reserved Instance is not used on your running instance, significant additional costs can pile up in your account because you pay the higher On Demand rates. AWS usually applies the EC2 Reserved Instance automatically to any running instance that matches the instance properties (type, scope, etc.) of the Reserved Instance. If you feel that your Reserved Instance is not applied properly, I'll show you in this post how to resolve the issue.

Redirect user profile folders (documents, pictures, etc.) to OneDrive for Business

Par : Brandon Lee

For a long time, roaming profiles and folder redirection were the standard means under Windows for making user files available on different devices. Now that more and more users work on the road or at home rather than in the office, this technique is becoming increasingly obsolete. An alternative to such environments is to redirect profile folders to OneDrive.

Root login via SSH and SFTP on EC2 instances running Linux

Par : Michael Pietroforte

If you try to connect to an EC2 instance with the user root, you will receive this error message:
Please login as the user "ubuntu" rather than the user "root".
This is the message for an instance running Ubuntu. For an Amazon Linux or Red Hat instance, you are asked to log in with the ec2-user rather than root. In this post, I show you how to change this configuration and log in with root via SSH and SFTP in AWS anyway.
