NetApp brings managed ONTAP storage natively to Oracle Cloud
NetApp and Oracle are bringing ONTAP storage to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as a fully managed native service, giving customers a way to move existing workloads without redesigning applications. The service will integrate with OCI’s data and control planes and is expected to become generally available within the next 12 months.

SQL Server on Azure Local goes GA in disconnected mode as DiskANN indexes arrive
Microsoft has made SQL Server on Azure Local generally available in connected and disconnected modes, extending Azure management to air-gapped and intermittently connected deployments. The SQLCon/FabCon Europe updates also bring DiskANN vector indexes to general availability across Azure SQL Database Hyperscale, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL database in Fabric.

Microsoft ends 25 TB OneDrive storage quotas and pushes $0.20/GB pay-as-you-go
Microsoft is ending OneDrive for Business storage expansions past 5 TB. Any account above that limit will be switched to read-only between November 2026 and February 2027. At the same time, Microsoft is launching a metered pay-as-you-go (PAYG) option at $0.20 per GB per month, so tenants that got larger quotas through an approved process now have to either delete data or pay for it.

Microsoft will stream its fourth annual OneDrive + Copilot Digital Event on October 20, giving users an early look at new AI features for files, photos, collaboration, and knowledge in Microsoft 365. The free event will include product demonstrations, expert discussions, and a live question-and-answer session, although Microsoft has not yet disclosed which features will debut.
