How to Enable Windows 11 Task Manager Always on Top

On Windows 11, there is a newly designed Task Manager. While it carries many features from older Windows editions, it also has peculiar new features. One such feature is the Windows 11 Task Manager Always on top mode.

When this feature is enabled, the Task Manager will remain the focus on your display permanently. This means every other application will open underneath it. The only way to take it out of focus would be to minimize it to the Taskbar tray or disable the always-on-top settings.

Let us show you how to enable always on top on Windows 11.

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open the Task Manager.

2. Click the Settings gear icon at the bottom left of the Task Manager.

Benefits of Using the Task Manager in Always on Top Mode

You may use the Always on Top mode of the Windows 11 Task Manager for a few reasons. Some include the following:

Enhanced Troubleshooting

  • If you have a frozen or crashed program, it may block off access to other things on your computer. The Always on top mode allows the Task Manager to remain visible so that you may end the problematic program.
  • If you are working with some full-screen applications, especially games, they take the whole display, but the Always on top feature will impose the Task Manager instead of launching it in normal mode.

Real-Time Performance Monitoring

  • With this feature, you will have access to uninterrupted real-time performance monitoring. This allows you to keep your eyes on the CPU, disk, Memory, and more without interruption. This may be valuable when running resource-intensive apps.
  • When you are able to observe the resource page in real-time, you may quickly pick out and fix performance issues.

Streamlined Workflow

  • If you usually have to switch between many applications, the Always on top mode will ensure you do not lose track of the Task Manager while doing these tasks. You will always have a quick overview of all open tasks.
  • It also offers you quick access to your system tools like the Startup programs, Performance history, Services, and more.
